Going for a cruise in a historic Porsche 911 [Video]

Highway 1 reporter David Undercoffler grabs a 1967 Porsche 911 for an afternoon of testing.

Fifty years ago this week, Porsche unknowingly changed the face of sports cars by introducing the 911 at the Frankfurt Motor Show.

Now 820,000 copies later, the icon is still going strong. To track the evolution of the 911, we grabbed an early 1967 model and a 2013 Carrera 4S Cabriolet and tested each.

We also brought our cameras along for our day in the early model, which we drove on some winding roads outside Carmel, Calif.

Here's a video from that drive. When you're done, cruise over to our gallery of the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show to see what might be setting the pace for the next 50 years in autos.
