Elon Musk teases the Model D as Tesla poised to announce new vehicles

He's back-ordered on deliveries of Model S. He hasn't delivered his first Model X. No one has even seen his Model 3. And you'd think he was already busy enough, sending SpaceX capsules -- and the Nevada state budget -- into outer space.

But Elon Musk today used his Tesla Twitter account to tease the Oct. 9 unveiling of a Model D and another, unidentified model.

Tesla reps are mum, saying only that the world will have to wait a week to know what Musk has in mind. But Wall Street likes it. Tesla stock was up $7.73, or 3.2%, to $248 on the news.
