Paul, Hastings elected 16 lawyers to firm partnership. KTGY Group hired Michael Ohara and Scott Higa for the firm’s new Denver office. MTI Technology Corporation appointed William Atkins and Ronald E. Heinz, Jr. to its board of directors. The California Healthcare Institute elected new directors. California Community Bank said Scott Wood would lead the bank’s expansion.

Paul, Hastings, Janofsky & Walker LLP announced today that 16 lawyers, representing all five departments, have been elected to the firm partnership. Their election is effective February 1, 2007.

Irvine-based KTGY Group, Inc., Architecture and Planning, has opened a new office in Denver to expand its services in the United States. The new office will be headed by Michael Ohara, principal and director of residential design and Scott Higa, principal and director of retail. Scott R. Higa, AIA, NCARB, most recently served as a managing principal with MCG Architecture in Englewood, Colorado. Ohara most recently served as associate principal for JG Johnson Architects in Denver as well as a managing partner for Van Tilburg, Banvard & Soderbergh in Denver.

Irvine-based MTI Technology Corporation (Nasdaq: MTIC), a provider of consulting services, announced the appointment of William Atkins and Ronald E. Heinz, Jr. to its board of directors. Atkins is a consultant to firms focusing on technology and management. Heinz is managing director of Canopy Ventures, LLC, a technology investment firm.

Michael V. Drake, M.D., chancellor, University of California-Irvine (UCI); John M. Dunn, executive vice president, Biogen Idec (NASDAQ: BIIB); Peter G. Milner, M.D., president, co-founder and, member of the board of directors, ARYx Therapeutics, Inc.; and William E. Rhodes III, president, Cell Analysis, BD Biosciences, were elected to the board of directors of California Healthcare Institute (CHI). CHI is a non-profit public policy research organization, representing leading California academic institutions, biotechnology, medical device, diagnostics and pharmaceutical firms.

Escondido-based California Community Bank (OTCBB:CABK) has appointed Executive Vice President Scott M. Wood to head its expansion into the Miramar Road - Sorrento Mesa - Kearney Mesa markets. Wood will be overseeing the bank’s expansion and continued growth in serving the business and professional community. Wood has 24 years of banking experience. Most recently he served as Small Business Specialist Manager for Bank of America.
