Several homes once owned by celebrities are worth noting this week:
In Malibu, Robert Redford’s former beach house is listed for $15 million. Set on exclusive Broad Beach, the midcentury house has been upgraded with modern amenities. Including the master suite with a fireplace and balcony, there are five bedrooms and 4.5 bathrooms in the home’s 5,329 square feet of living space. The Oscar-winning director and actor owned the property from 1986 to 2001, public records show. Sandra Miller of Engel & Volkers in Santa Monica and Pamela Moran of Prudential California Realty are the listing agents.
Some of the former Dennis Hopper compound in Venice has sold for $4.65 million. The corrugated-metal fronted main house and guest house include four bedrooms, three bathrooms and 6,251 square feet of living space. When the property sold last year for $5 million it included three condominiums designed by Frank Gehry. Asaf Raz and Jeff Konecke of Abbot Kinney Real Estate handled the transaction.
A Malibu property owned by the late character actor James Whitmore sold for $1.68 million. The two-bedroom, two-bathroom Spanish style house, built in 1960, has 1,711 square feet of living space. Brenda Hayward of Coldwell Banker’s Malibu West office was the listing agent. Peter Bergman and Ty Bergman of Gibson International’s Marina office represented the buyer.
