Judge Says Lockheed Must Pay Supplier

Lockheed Martin Corp. has been ordered to pay $16.2 million in damages and accrued interest to a Pasadena-based supplier that had accused the defense giant of fraud and breach of contract.

The ruling this week by federal Bankruptcy Court Judge Thomas J. Donovan in Los Angeles held that Lockheed repeatedly ordered field support services from Computer Aided Systems Inc. in the late 1990s but never intended to pay for them. Computer Aided Systems, which had manufacturing facilities Hayward, Calif., closed its doors and filed for bankruptcy protection in November 1999.

Executives at Bethesda, Md.-based Lockheed could not be reached for comment.
