Bruno Mars loads up on amenities in Studio City

Grammy-winning singer Bruno Mars has purchased a tricked-out, two-acre estate in Studio City for $6.5 million.

Set in a gated foothill community in the Fryman Canyon area, the Mediterranean-style house was built in 2000 and takes in canyon, city and mountain views.

The recently renovated interior includes high ceilings, bay windows, and elaborate arches and moldings. Some 9,033 square feet of living space contains a two-story rotunda entry, a den, a family room with a wet bar and a wine cellar.

The master suite features a fireplace, a sitting room, an office, dual walk-in closets, steam and dry saunas, a kitchenette and a coffee bar for a total of seven bedrooms and eight bathrooms.

The heavily wooded lot has a heated cabana with a covered lounge, an infinity swimming pool with a spa, a children's playground and an expansive lawn. There is parking for 12 vehicles.

Mars, 29, was named 2014 artist of the year by Billboard. His albums include "Doo-Wops & Hooligans" (2010) and "Unorthodox Jukebox" (2012), which won a best pop vocal album Grammy. His current hit single is "Uptown Funk!"

The property previously sold in 2013 for $5.7 million.

Zach Goldsmith and Rita Goldsmith of Hilton & Hyland/Christie's International Real Estate was the listing agent and John Johnston of Sotheby's International Realty represented Mars, according to real estate agents not authorized to comment on the deal.

Newlywed lists bachelor pad

Evan Ross of "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay" films has listed his house in Hollywood Hills West at $1.499 million.

The chic 1956 home sits off the beaten track on a cul-de-sac. Vaulted ceilings, large expanses of walls for art display and glass doors that open to patio space contribute to the light and open ambience.

Some 1,686 square feet of living space contains family, living and dining rooms, a breakfast bar, two bathrooms and two bedrooms.

A koi pond, a swimming pool with a spa and a flagstone deck complete the outdoor space.

Ross, 26, married singer-actress Ashlee Simpson last year. He is the son of Motown superstar Diana Ross and her ex-husband, Arne Naess Jr., the late Norwegian businessman and mountaineer.

The actor-producer has been in such films as "Jeff, Who Lives at Home," "According to Greta" and "Mooz-Lum."

He bought the property in 2012 for $1.359 million.

Songwriter seeks written offers

Singer-songwriter John Fogerty has put a house in the Beverly Crest area up for sale at $1.549 million.

The Traditional-style single-story home has been leased out in recent years at $5,400 a month.

Set on a three-quarter-acre knoll and surrounded by mature trees, the updated 1961 house features vaulted beamed ceilings, a stone fireplace and wooden floors. French doors open to a brick patio and the backyard.

The 1,920 square feet of living space includes an entry, formal dining and living rooms, a center hall, a kitchen with a breakfast area and skylight, three bedrooms and two bathrooms.

Fogerty, 69, gained fame as the lead singer and guitarist for the rock band Creedence Clearwater Revival. The band, which was started in the late 1960s and had such hits as "Proud Mary" and "Who'll Stop the Rain," was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame more than two decades ago.

He later turned to a solo career, where he found continued success. His most recent solo album, "Wrote a Song for Everyone," was released two years ago.

Fogerty bought the property in 2008 for $1.385 million.

Producer lists Malibu retreat

Producer Barry Katz has listed his place in Malibu at $2.5 million.

Sited to take in panoramic views of the ocean, canyons and mountains, the airy 3,074-square-foot contemporary was built in 1979 and features vaulted ceilings, walls of glass and clerestory windows.

An entry, living and dining rooms, a glass-sided breakfast room, a den, an office, a bonus room, a loft, four bedrooms and three bathrooms are among the living spaces. There are fireplaces in the living room and master bedroom.

The acre of grounds includes gardens and a swimming pool with a spa.

Katz, 55, has scores of producer credits for such movies as "My Best Friend's Girl" (2008), "Good Luck Chuck" (2007) and "Last Comic Standing" (2003). More recently he was an executive producer for the series "Mr. Box Office" (2012-13) and "Whitney" (2011-13).

He bought the property in 2008 for $2 million.

Jeans tycoon re-sizes price

Joe Dahan of Joe's Jeans fame has put his compound in Hollywood Hills West back on the market at $7.25 million and was in escrow in about two weeks.

Designed by modernist architect Hal Levitt, the 1969 main house features walls of glass, built-ins, slanted ceilings and terrazzo floors.

There are two detached glass structures on the one-acre property, which features a swimming pool, a bamboo grove, gardens, a greenhouse and a long gated driveway.

Living spaces include an entry, living, dining and family rooms, a bonus room, a gym, a guesthouse, five bedrooms and five bathrooms. The living room and master bedroom have fireplaces.

Dahan, the founder and creative director of the jeans company, bought the property in 2005 for $4.65 million. He has served as president and head designer of Joe's Jeans since 2001.

The property was previously listed at $9.995 million in 2013 and at $8.495 million last year.

No longer spending 'Days' here

John Aniston, a mainstay of "Days of Our Lives" for decades, has sold a house in the gated equestrian community of Bell Canyon for $1.42 million.

He bought the 1988 Mediterranean-style home about a decade ago from bass guitarist John McVie of Fleetwood Mac for $1.399 million.

The 1.52-acre property affords a sense of privacy with mature trees, an expansive lawn and unobstructed city, canyon and mountain views.

Inside, a two-story entry, topped by a beamed ceiling, contains a floating-style staircase. A formal dining room with a coffered ceiling, an entertainment room with arched windows and a family room with a wet bar and fireplace are included in 4,466 square feet.

The master suite includes a sitting room with fireplace and a built-in entertainment center for a total of five bedrooms and five bathrooms. French doors open to a wrap-around balcony.

The grounds include waterfalls, a grotto-style swimming pool and a stone deck.

Aniston, 81, started on the daytime soap opera in the mid-1980s. He is the father of actress Jennifer Aniston.
