Onetime Donald Sutherland beach house in Santa Monica is for sale or lease #TBT

A Santa Monica beach house owned for many years by actor Donald Sutherland is on the market at $3.075 million for sale or $15,000 a month for lease.

Built in 1980, the property sold that year for $250,000 and again in 1987 for $332,500. A decade later it changed hands for $435,000. Most recently, the Tudor-style condo sold for $2.5 million in both 2012 and 2014.

Set right on the sand, the 1,484-square-foot unit features a second-floor living room with a deck to capture the panoramic ocean views. Among details that remain from Sutherland’s time is a theater-style projection system he had installed in the master bedroom to preview movies.

There are three bedrooms and two bathrooms. The gated house has a two-car garage.

Sutherland, 80, has had a distinguished acting career spanning more than five decades. Within the last decade he starred in the television dramas “Commander in Chief,” “Dirty Sexy Money” and “Crossing Lines.” He’ll reprise his role as President Snow in the upcoming “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay 2” due out next month.
