Holmby Hills estate with a beauty parlor tops week’s sales

A pocket listing in Holmby Hills, a pair of Beverly Hills estates and celebrity-approved spread in Malibu were among the most expensive sales in the greater Los Angeles area this last week.

$30 million, Holmby Hills

A 1930s Paul Williams-inspired home was razed to make way for this newly built Traditional, sited on about an acre in the Holmby Hills area of Los Angeles. Shopped off-market for as much as $35 million, the 14,700-square-foot home counts a beauty parlor, a tennis court and a detached guest house complete with a gym and screening room among its features. Drew Fenton of Hilton & Hyland, an affiliate of Christie’s International Realty, and Barbara Boyle of Sotheby’s International Realty were the listing agents. Judy Feder of Hilton & Hyland and Barry Peele of Sotheby’s represented the buyer in the sale.

$13.6 million, Beverly Hills

This 11,900-square-foot Mediterranean neighbors the Beverly Hills Hotel on more than a third of an acre with a screening room, a glass-encased wine cellar and an outdoor pool with a waterfall and spa. A vaulted foyer with a sweeping wrought-iron staircase marks the entrance. Josh and Matthew Altman of Hilton & Hyland and Kurt Rappaport of Westside Estate Agency Inc. had the listing. Juliet Zacarias of Sotheby’s International Realty represented the buyer in the sale.

$9.9 million, Beverly Hills

The modern compound, with walls of glass, industrial accents and voluminous living spaces, previously sold for $7.15 million in 2010. A gym, a game/media room and a wine room are among the amenities. An elevator services all three floors. Michael Libow of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage had the listing. Irma Velasquez of Century 21 represented the buyer in the sale.

$8.9 million, Hollywood Hills West

The French Regency-style compound, set behind a gated drive in Hollywood Hills West, previously sold for $1.575 million in 2002. A north-south tennis court, a nightclub-style entertainer’s space, a meditation room and a pool and spa overlooking Sunset Strip are among features. Drew Gitlin of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices California Properties had the listing. Juliette Hohnen of Hilton & Hyland represented the buyer in the sale.

$6.5 million, Malibu

The 6,000-square-foot Mediterranean formerly owned by “Supernatural” star Jensen Ackles came to market in August at $6.995 million. Set on more than an acre in Malibu, the gated estate is distinguished by landscaped grounds containing an outdoor kitchen, a pool and spa. Tall palms and ocean views complete the resort-like setting. Shen Schulz of Sotheby’s International Realty was the listing agent. Lily Harfouche of Coldwell Banker represented the buyer in the sale.

$4.9 million, Bel Air

Sited on more than an acre in Bel Air, with city and ocean views, this Italian Villa-inspired home changed hands for the first time in 25 years. A courtyard with a koi pond marks the entrance of the 5,134-square-foot home, which boasts large formal spaces, a gourmet kitchen and a master suite with a two-sided fireplace and sitting room. Josh Flagg and Joe Babajian of Rodeo Realty were the listing agents.

$4,594,437, Westlake Village

A large motor court with a fountain sit at the entrance of this 3.16-acre Mediterranean estate in the Country Club Estates area of Westlake Village. Douglas fir beams, Brazilian Rosewood and Travertine lend an Old World ambiance to the 9,890-square-foot home, which includes a billiard room, a home theater and an elevator. Nicole Van Parys and Gary Dean Nesen of Engel & Voelkers, Westlake Village, were the listing agents. Judy Ross-Bunnage of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage represented the buyer in the sale.
