On Father’s Day, shop for more than a home at Altadena condos

Exotic cars, classical musicians playing instruments in black mini-dresses and food from the hottest restaurants — these are among the trappings of broker- and real estate agent-only events in the Los Angeles area when a luxury home comes on the market. In this occasional feature, we’ll highlight open houses where the public can turn out for fun and festivities.

Millard Place, 12 newly built condominiums and a modern single-family house in Altadena, is launching its sales opening with multi-vendor pop-up stores where potential buyers can shop for more than a home.

Audis, Maseratis, furniture, linens, soaps, gourmet foods, Williams-Sonoma cookware, clothing, bicycles, jewelry and original artwork will be for sale as well as cocktails. The party-like event takes place on Father’s Day and again on June 27 and 28.

The one-, two- and three-bedroom urban-chic condos range in size from 792 to 2,177 square feet and are priced from $449,000 to $875,000. The community, atop retail space at 1968 N. Lake Ave., has subterranean parking, an elevator, private storage rooms, secured access and a fountain and sitting area at the entrance.

The adjacent contemporary house has sweeping San Gabriel Mountain views and is priced at $1.225 million. The 2,453-square-foot home features a great room with a fireplace, family and dining rooms, three bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms. There’s a rooftop terrace, a swimming pool with a spa and a two-car attached garage.

Offers on the properties are due on June 30. Lara Arslanian and Boyd Smith of Podley Properties are the listing agents.
