Tobey Maguire reels in a buyer
Just as Tobey Maguire’s comic book character has spidery senses that kick in when danger is near, the “Spider-Man” actor may have a bit of extrasensory perception working when it comes to real estate dealings. He just sold his house in Brentwood for $10.4 million — nearly $2 million more than he paid 15 months ago.
Built in 1949 and designed by noted Santa Monica architect John Byers, the 6,320-square-foot plantation-style house sits behind gates on three quarters of an acre.
Wood beam ceilings, skylights, French doors and four fireplaces are among interior details. The home has living, dining and family rooms, a breakfast bar, a den, a library/study and a sauna. An upstairs guest suite has its own entrance for a total of six bedrooms and 5.5 bathrooms.
The master suite contains a sitting room overlooking the grounds, which include a covered living room, lawn, mature trees and a swimming pool and spa area with a flagstone surround.
Maguire, 39, has starred in such films as “The Great Gatsby” (2013), “Seabiscuit” (2003) and “The Cider House Rules” (1999). He is producing the upcoming films “Z for Zachariah” and “The Fifth Wave.”
He bought the home from TV host Ricki Lake for $8.45 million and had listed it at $10.25 million.

Completing his move-up maneuver
Actor Channing Tatum has parted with a home in Hollywood Hills West for $2,668,500.
The “Foxcatcher” star and his wife, actress-dancer Jenna Dewan-Tatum, bought a house in Beverly Hills this year for $6 million.
The wood-and-glass home that just sold sits on a third of an acre amid mature trees and lush landscaping. Features include a teak staircase leading to the second-floor master suite, wood beam ceilings, a wine cellar and a guesthouse.
The open-plan living and dining areas lead to a stone patio with a fireplace, barbecue center and a swimming pool with a spa. There are three bedrooms and three bathrooms.
Tatum, 34, established himself in the films “Step Up” (2006), “Magic Mike” (2012) and the “Jump Street” movies.
Dewan-Tatum, 34, has been on several series including “Witches of East End” (2013-14) and “American Horror Story” (2012).
The house previously changed hands in 2008 for $2.6 million.
‘Simpsons’ voice notches sale
Hank Azaria has sold a house with lots of character in the Beverly Crest area for $3 million.
The two-story Craftsman-esque house, built in 1999, takes its design cues from Prairie School architecture, which emphasizes horizontal lines, eaves and handcrafted details.
Living, family and dining rooms, a library/study, four bedrooms and five bathrooms are within the 3,320 square feet of interior space. The living room, den and master bedroom all have fireplaces.
Balconies and a lanai extend the living space outdoors.
The single-story house is set behind gates on close to a half-acre lot abutting canyon land. The wooded grounds include a stream, lawn and a swimming pool.
Azaria, 50, has performed since 1989 as numerous “Simpsons” voices, including barkeep Moe Szyslak, Kwik-E-Mart owner Apu Nahasapeemapetilon and Chief Wiggum. He also works on the series “Family Guys” and “Bordertown.”
The property previously sold in 2000 for $2 million. The house was leased out five years ago at $9,000 a month.

Del Rio, who died in 1983 at 77, was a box-office draw in the U.S. and her native Mexico in the silent and talking eras. She starred in “Flying Down to Rio” (1938), “The Abandoned” (1945) and “The Lady of the Dawn” (1966), among other movies in her more than five-decade career.
