Want Google Glass? Plenty available on EBay, Craigslist

Google isn’t expected to release its futuristic Glass device to the public until next year, but if you really want one now, there are plenty on sale on EBay and Craigslist.

The official way to get Glass is by receiving an invitation to purchase the gadget either from Google or an existing Glass user. Once users have an invitation, they can then pay the Mountain View, Calif., tech giant $1,500 for the gadget.

Google has been sending invitations to select users throughout the year, but for a while, the company said that if users tried to resell the device they would be disabled and rendered useless.

That, however, changed earlier this month. Google said it would no longer disable devices, and as a result, numerous Glass devices are now available for purchase on EBay and Craigslist.

Google Glass will likely be priced lower when it is officially released to the public, but if you really want to get the gadget before the holidays, plenty are available if you’re willing to pay a steep price.

Available for purchase are new devices as well as invitation codes that users can pay for in order to then purchase Glass directly from Google.

A quick search for “Google Glass” on EBay brings up plenty of results. Prices for Glass range from as low as $2,500 to $4,000. One device was being sold for nearly $6,000. Meanwhile, prices for Glass invitation codes range from as low as $7 to as much as $499.

Searching for Google Glass on the Los Angeles page for Craigslist pulls up similar results, although not as many. Prices for the gadget hover around $3,000; the cost of an invitation code go from $100 to $500.
