Could this be the tablet that Google reveals July 24?

Share

After Google invited the press to an event set for July 24, rumors began swirling that the Web giant may unveil a new Nexus 7 tablet.

Now one website claims to have the pictures of that device.

AndroidCentral, a news blog that covers Android devices, said it received images of the second-generation Google tablet -- should we call it the Nexus 7-2? -- from an anonymous source.

The pictures show a contraption that looks very similar to the original Nexus 7. There’s a 7-inch screen and a dark black back cover with “Nexus” sprawled in large letters.

There also appear to be some new features -- the upcoming tablet seems to have a back-facing camera as well as dual speakers. Google fans will welcome those new features, which were present on some of the Nexus 7’s rival devices last year.

Additionally, the tablet in the images is reportedly running on Android 4.3, which would be a new version of Google’s software.

AndroidCentral is being cautious and says the device in the pictures could simply be a prototype, but if you just can’t wait until next Wednesday, head to its site to see more pictures of the alleged second-generation Nexus 7.
