The Samsung smartwatch will be unveiled in early September, according to a report this week.

SamMobile, a website that covers Samsung news, reports that it has confirmed that the South Korean tech giant will unveil its rumored device on Sept. 4.

The unveiling will take place at the IFA annual consumer electronics show in Berlin, where Samsung is also expected to announce the Galaxy Note III smartphone, the report says.

The device is expected to be named the Galaxy Gear, and SamMobile reports that it will be a companion accessory that will work with Samsung Galaxy smartphones.

According to patents of the device, the Galaxy Gear may have a flexible screen as well as a removable wristband that could be interchanged with bands of different colors.

If Samsung does announce the Galaxy Gear next month, it will be the first among several tech companies, including Apple, Google and Microsoft, that have been recently rumored to be working on smartwatches.

Last week, artists not related to Samsung depicted what the Galaxy Gear device may look like.

Samsung could not be reached for comment on the SamMobile report.
