Pictures: 9 kids' books that stand the test of 1,000 reads

Let's be frank. While reading to kids is often a ton of fun, when you're slogging through a not-great book for the 47th time in a week, it can get a bit ... tedious. Thankfully, there are many books that stand the test of a thousand reads. You just have to hope that your kids love them too. A constant favorite of readers and listeners alike in our house: "Where the Wild Things Are" by Maurice Sendak, who died this week at age 83. Here are a few of our household faves that don't get old. I'd love to hear what some of yours are; feel free to leave a comment below. (Fair warning: I'm a sucker for books with a good rhyme scheme, so there's a lot of that represented here.) -- Sarah Kickler Kelber
