TV ratings: ‘Breaking Bad’ rises slightly to series high

“Breaking Bad,” now with a best drama Emmy Award in hand, again drew its biggest audience ever Sunday night.

The second-to-last episode of the AMC drama starring Bryan Cranston brought in 6.6 million viewers, up about 3% from last week’s “Ozymandias” episode, according to early numbers from Nielsen.

It also got a slight boost in the key 18-to-49-year-old demographic, pulling in 4.3 million people. That’s an increase of about 6% from the previous week’s installment, which was declared by many to be the best episode in the series’ history.

Sunday night’s episode also generated plenty of Twitter chatter. According to Nielsen’s SocialGuide, the show drew about 325,000 mentions on the social media website, making it the second-most-tweeted-about telecast of the week, behind Sunday night’s Emmy Awards telecast.

Still, in terms of social media interest, the episode was down from the nearly 600,000 Twitter mentions of “Ozymandias.”
