It looks like Fox’s new spooky police drama “Sleepy Hollow” got off to a screaming start Monday night.

According to preliminary numbers from Nielsen, the series premiere drew more than 10 million viewers and more than doubled ratings from last year’s debut of “Mob Doctor” in the same time slot.

“Sleepy Hollow,” about a Revolutionary War hero who wakes up in modern-day upstate New York, scored a rating of 3.4 among advertiser-coveted 18- to 49-year-olds, up 127% from the beginning episode of “Mob Doctor,” which was canceled. “Sleep Hollow” was Fox’s highest-rated premiere of a fall drama since 2007.

The show also got the highest 18-49 rating Monday night.

Fox won the night in the 18-49 demographic with a rating of 2.8. The network also debuted the ninth season of “Bones,” which drew 7.5 million viewers and generated a rating of 2.2, down slightly from last year’s premiere.

“Dancing with the Stars,” now in its 17th season, also premiered Monday, with celebrity contestants including “High School Musical” star Corbin Blue, “Glee” diva Amber Riley and Bill Nye “The Science Guy.”

“DWTS” was the most-watched telecast of the night with an audience of 16.2 million and a 18-49 rating of 3.2, up 28% from last season’s premiere. Those numbers are subject to change because ABC was preempted in Pittsburgh by coverage of the Steelers’ 10-20 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals.

CBS’ “Under the Dome’s” season closer rose 33% from last week to a 2.8 rating and brought in 11.8 million viewers.
