Tuesday night was the first round of semifinal performances on “America’s Got Talent,” and that did not improve ratings for the series.

“Talent” drew an average of 8.53 million viewers and scored a rating of 2.2 in the key 18-49 demographic, according to early numbers from Nielsen.

The rating was flat compared with last week and viewership increased by a fraction of a percentage point. Still, the show was easily the highest rated and most watched telecast of the night, and helped NBC secure a win in ratings and total viewers Tuesday.

On Fox, “So You Think You Can Dance” generated a rating of 1.3 in the demo, up 8% from last week, and its total audience grew 5% to 4 million. The competition’s field was narrowed down to the top four contestants, and the first part of the season finale is next week.

ABC’s “Extreme Weight Loss” fell 15% to an 18-49 rating of 15%.

CBS was in all repeats.
