TV ratings: ABC's 'Resurrection' remains strong in second week

"Resurrection" posted strong ratings for ABC in its second episode, according to early numbers from Nielsen.

Sunday's installment of the new drama, which follows residents of Arcadia, Mo., whose dead loved ones return, drew 10.8 million viewers on average.

While that's down from the series premiere, which hooked 13.3 million people, it remained the top Sunday night show on ABC, CBS, NBC or Fox in the key 18-to-49 demographic. In that advertiser-preferred age group, "Resurrection" garnered a rating of 3.0, down about 20% from the big opener. 

In 18-to-49, a ratings point equals roughly 1.3 million people.

Ratings for that other back-from-the-dead drama, AMC's "The Walking Dead," won't be available until later Monday, but the show has been averaging around 13 million viewers in recent episodes. 

On NBC, the new 10 p.m. thriller "Crisis" premiered with 6.5 million viewers and a 1.6 among 18-to-49-year-olds, matching the rating for last year's April premiere of "Hannibal."

"Believe," the new NBC sci-fi drama from J.J. Abrams and Alfonso Cuarón, scored 6.5 million viewers and a so-so rating of 1.4 in 18-to-49 with its debut in its regular Sunday time slot.

As expected, it was down significantly from its big premiere on Monday, March 10, which aired after an original episode of "The Voice." Compared with NBC's average for the 9 p.m. Sunday time period last year (not counting sports), the demo rating for "Believe" is down about 12%, though total viewership is up. 

Fox's  science documentary series "Cosmos" drew 4.9 million viewers and a 1.9 rating in 18-to-49, down about 10% from last week in the advertiser-desired demographic. "Cosmos," which also runs on multiple other networks, aired after Fox's animation lineup, which saw big week-to-week growth from "Bob's Burgers" and "The Simpsons," though "American Dad" fell in its new 7:30 p.m. time slot. 

CBS had the most-watched broadcast show with "60 Minutes" (11.1 million viewers) while ratings for "Amazing Race" and "The Good Wife" were virtually tied with their numbers from last week. "The Mentalist" was down 19% to a 1.3 for Sunday's episode.
