At the arraignment, prosecutors will formally file charges against the Canadian-born pop star and he will enter a plea, which can be entered through an attorney in writing.
"Justin doesn't have to be there," Miami state attorney's office spokesman, Ed Griffith told People. "He will plead not guilty and the process will begin."
Police said Bieber, who has a past with minor legal troubles, admitted to smoking marijuana, drinking and taking a prescription medication, AP reported.
