Lena Dunham gets suggestive in âYour First Timeâ ad for Obama
Lena Dunham, the creator and star of HBOâs âGirls,â is no stranger to oversharing â and sheâs done it again in an ad on behalf of President Obama in which she suggestively describes what âyour first timeâ should be like.
âYour first time shouldnât be with just anybody. You want to do it with a great guy. It should be with a guy with beautiful â someone who really cares about and understands women.â
Her first time voting, sillies. What were you thinking? Oh wait, thatâs what you were supposed to think.
Dunham goes on to describe her perfect âfirst timeâ as someone whoâs really into birth control, healthcare and âbeautiful, complicatedâ weddings for gay people, among other things like bringing troops home from Iraq and supporting equal pay for women.
âMy first time voting was amazing. It was this line in the sand â before, I was a girl; now I was a woman. I went to the polling station, I pulled back the curtain, I voted for Barack Obama.â
The spot ends with a giddy Dunham looking as if she just, um, cast a ballot.
âThe video may be light but the message is serious: vote for womenâs rights,â Dunham tweeted late Thursday.
Hereâs something about Lena that she let the world know in an earlier tweet: âMy biggest sexual fantasy is that someone busts in when Iâm singing in the shower and yells âgirl, where you been hiding that voice?ââ
Are we seeing a theme?
âThis is SO GREAT!,â musician Aimee Mann said on Twitter.
âIâm for Lena Dunham,â tweeted âThe Vampire Diariesâ star Nina Dobrev, who later noted, âIâm Canadian, so unfortunately I cannot vote in the USâ in response to a question about whether she supported Obama.
Itâs not the first ad Dunhamâs done on behalf of the president. She appeared in a bit with dozens of women lip-syncing along to singer Leslie Goreâs âYou Donât Own Me,â featuring Gore delivering a get-out-the-vote message tailored to womenâs issues.
Dunham, whoâs 26, has actually been legal to vote for two presidential elections.
So what do you think, cool or creepy? While youâre answering in comments, the Ministryâs going to ponder its âfirst timeâ being with Ronald Reagan. Funny, we never thought of it that way before.
But maybe we should have, as the late president was actually a step ahead of Dunham.
âI know what itâs like to pull the Republican lever for the first time, because I used to be a Democrat myself,â Reagan said while campaigning in 1980, âand I can tell you it only hurts for a minute and then it feels just great.â
