Rachel Dolezal gets the Maya Rudolph treatment on ‘Late Night’

Had Maya Rudolph stayed on “Saturday Night Live” until now, we might have seen a more fleshed out version of her Rachel Dolezal impression

Seth Meyers helped fill the Maya-shaped “SNL” void on “Late Night” on Monday alongside his former colleague when the actress impersonated the disgraced NAACP leader, who disguised herself as a black woman for years.

Rudolph nailed Oprah Winfrey and Beyonce impressions during her seven-year run on the sketch show and has popped in and out of the comedy since signing off as a cast member in 2007. Though, she told Meyers that she’s been getting Dolezal requests on “a daily basis.”

“I remember Tina [Fey] saying when Sarah Palin was [in the news], everyone kept saying, ‘You gotta do Sarah Palin.’ But it happens to me every day. People are like, ‘It’s too bad you haven’t been on “SNL” since 2007; you have to play this lady.’ And I gotta say the whole thing is very fascinating to me.”

Meyers showed a clip of Dolezal being confronted about her race by a reporter and getting miffed during the interview. Her lack of response and shifty eyes were what Rudolph embellished in her own off-the-cuff parody, complete with a curly “Rachel Dolezal wig.”

“Is your father an African American,” Meyers asked the befuddled Rudolph-as-Dolezal. “Let me make this very simple for you, are your parents white?”

“Wait, I don’t really understand the question,” she answered, grunting and making several puzzled faces. When Meyers pressed on, Rudolph pointed to the wig and insisted he was asking “really inappropriate questions.”

“I think America really missed out,” she added once she was out of character. “I’m so glad I brought my Rachel Dolezal wig. I always keep it in my purse.”
