“The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” is getting a rush of blood to the head.

Lionsgate announced Friday that Coldplay will contribute the first song to the new Jennifer Lawrence movie. “Atlas,” as it will be titled, will hit on Aug. 26, nearly three months ahead of the movie’s Nov 22 release.

In a statement, Frances Lawrence (no relation), the director leading the new foray to the Arena, noted how “well [Coldplay] have connected to the themes and ideas within the film.”

The companion album to Gary Ross’ first film last year became pretty much as popular as Katniss’ arrow. The album, subtitled “Songs From District 12 and Beyond,” contained tracks from artists including Arcade Fire, Taylor Swift and Kid Cudi and hit No. 1 on the Billboard 200 in the U.S.

“Atlas” marks the first time Coldplay has contributed an original song to a film soundtrack. Could it be the beginning of a beautiful collaboration with the “Hunger Games” franchise? We’d pay hard currency to see Peeta serenade Katniss with a rousing rendition of “Yellow.”
