Actress Brooke Shields this summer will make her first move from stage to director’s chair for the Hollywood Bowl’s production of “Chicago.”

It was also announced that Rob Fisher, who has served as a supervising music director in “Chicago” productions around the word, is set to conduct.

Shields previously played merry murderess Roxie Hart in both the 2005 Broadway production of the Bob Fosse musical and at London’s West End.

“My passion for ‘Chicago’ began decades ago, purely as a fan,” Shields said in a statement. “I am honored to have [been] asked to make my directorial debut on such an important musical, and one that is so dear to my heart.”

Three performances are scheduled for July 26 and 27 at 8 p.m., and July 28 at 7:30 p.m.

Subscriptions and packages for the Hollywood Bowl’s 2013 season are currently available; single tickets for “Chicago” will go on sale May 4.

Prior Broadway musicals staged at the Hollywood Bowl include “Hairspray,” “The Producers” and “Rent,” directed by Neil Patrick Harris, who first starred in the touring production.
