Underdog | 'Underdog'( Shout Factory / June 4, 2012 )
Underdog, or to some a canine version of Superman, is an animated superhero from the 1960s who was modeled after the Man of Steel. Even his theme takes a cue from Superman: "It's a plane, it's a bird ... it's a frog," it goes. And the rhyme-speaking hero responds: "Not plane, nor bird, nor even frog/It's just little old me, Underdog." Wally Cox lends his voice to Underdog, whose pipsqueak persona made him all the more lovable. Even though there are only about 120 original episodes, the action hero remained in the American zeigeist via syndication, a giant Thanksgiving cartoon and a 2007 live action film.
