‘Scream Queens’ recap: Spend ‘seven minutes in hell’ with the Kappas

Share

Seven minutes in heaven turns into one hellish evening for the Kappa Kappa Tau sisters -- what else would one expect when you throw a slumber party as two maniacal serial killers dressed as Red Devils are on the loose?

Before the blood filled party begins, the votes on who will be the new president of Kappa Kappa Tau are tallied and it’s a dead heat between Zayday (Keke Palmer) and Chanel Oberlin (Emma Roberts). The two girls will serve as co-presidents, a decision that -- unsurprisingly -- causes Chanel to throw a huge fit and blame everything on Chanel #5 (Abigail Breslin). However, when her minions go to console Chanel, she reveals that the tie was completely planned and she was even hoping she would lose, giving her a better shot at escaping the Red Devil with her life -- oh Chanel, you sly minx you.

Zayday, soaking up her newfound power as co-president, decides to throw a slumber party to force the girls into a game of truth or dare to coax any revealing information about the killers out of them. The slumber party hits a snag, however, when the the power mysteriously goes out at the same time the girls realize that they have been locked inside the house.

A panicked Chanel calls Chad Radwell (Glen Powell) to come and save her -- lucky for her Chad and the rest of the Dickie Dollar Scholars were already headed to the house for a panty raid after they found out about the slumber party. Tragedy strikes though when the Scholars scale the house as the Red Devil attacks the armless boy, who somehow managed to survive the last attack, this time killing him for good with a swift decapitation.

When the main event finally rolls around, the game of truth or dare has its intended effects as Sam (Jeanna Han) is forced to reveal that Chanel #3’s (Billie Lourd) biological dad is Charles Manson. A furious #3, who finally admits to having feelings for Sam, angrily dares her to take a nap in the bloody bathtub from 1995.

Sure enough, the Red Devil finds Sam and murders her in the bathtub -- did anyone honestly think that was going to end any other way? The body count grows once more shortly after Sam’s body is discovered, when Roger (Aaron Rhodes) is brutally killed with a nail gun while partaking in seven minutes in heaven with Chanel #5.

With fear and suspicion running high, the two co-presidents decide to descend into the tunnels of the Kappa house -- oh yeah, the house has tunnels, and they are exquisitely designed like one would expect -- to try to find the Red Devil. As expected, the Red Devil eventually catches up to them and has Zayday cornered, menacing her with an ax; however, Chanel knocks him/her out and rescues Zayday.

After narrowly escaping the grasp of death yet again, the Kappa girls are bonded together a little tighter than before -- although #3 and #5 do make a pact to outlive Chanel. Who will make it to the end? We will just have to wait and see, but beware; the previews indicate that the body count is going nowhere but up.

So what did you think of the episode? Do you miss Hester’s (Lea Michele) neck brace too? Any guesses to who the Red Devil(s) are? Sound off in the comments and check back for what fresh hell the next episode brings on Nov. 3!

“When I was a kid, no one liked me because my dad was so rich, so I started acting like I didn’t care. But then I realized I really wasn’t pretending and actually didn’t care. I’m pretty sure I was born without that part of the brain that actually feels stuff.” - Chanel #3 (Billie Lourd)
