Honey Boo Boo endorses Barack Obama on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’

Mitt Romney, you better redneck-ognize!

Days after troubled starlet Linsday Lohan came out in favor of the Republican nominee, President Obama can now boast of his own dubious political endorsement. During a visit to “Jimmy Kimmel Live” Monday night, Alana Thompson, the pint-sized star of “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo,” expressed her support for the incumbent president — or, as she called him, “Marack Obama.”

To be fair, Alana didn’t exactly volunteer her opinion; it took considerable prompting from Kimmel to get the aspiring beauty queen, who was joined by her mother, June Shannon, to weigh in on the election. Sensing that his young guest was getting bored with the conversation the grown-ups were having (sample topics: coupons, the fleeting nature of reality stardom), Kimmel decided to shift the focus back to Alana.

He brought up the subject of Romney’s recent appearance on “Live! With Michael and Kelly,” where the Republican expressed his preference for Snooki over Honey Boo Boo. Although Alana was unaware of Romney’s taste in reality television — or indeed, of Romney at all — Kimmel asked who she would be supporting this year.

“Marack Obama,” she replied, as June quietly adjusted her daughter’s legs into a more ladylike position.

Kimmel made a futile attempt at a follow-up question — “Is there any way that Mitt Romney can win your vote back?” — but by then Alana had moved on to making faces at herself in a camera off stage. (Evidently her attention span is only slightly shorter than that of the average American voter.)

For the record, this isn’t the first time Alana’s expressed some left-of-center opinions. She endeared herself to gay fans of “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo” when she said that “Ain’t nothin’ wrong with bein’ a little gay” and with her cross-dressing male pig, Glitzy, who wears nail polish and a tiara — not that he has much say in the matter.

But truthfully, Alana seemed more interested in sticking her hand in a mug of water than in talking politics with Kimmel. She is 7, after all.
