Ronnie, Bobby, Ricky and Mike, along with Ralph and Johnny, are about to get the BET star treatment.

New Edition, the male vocal group that developed from a bubblegum kid group to adult hitmakers, will be the focus of an original miniseries for BET that will premiere in 2016.

The members of the group--Bobby Brown, Ricky Bell, Michael Bivins, Ronnie DeVoe, Johnny Gill and Ralph Tresvant--have signed on as co-producers of the three-night miniseries, which is being produced by Jesse Collins Entertainment and BET Networks.

“From our beginning in the Orchard Park Projects in Boston to Hollywood and everything in between, just like the Temptations and the Jackson Five--we are ready to retrace our footsteps and show everyone how we got here,” the group said in a statement. “For the fans all over the world, this one’s for you.”

The group’s hits include “Candy Girl,” “Cool It Now,” “If It Isn’t Love,” “Can You Stand the Rain” and “Mr. Telephone Man.”

New Edition has had a rocky history, with several breakups and reunions. Several member also had successful solo careers. The most well-known member is Bobby Brown, who had numerous hits as a solo artist and a stormy relationship with his former wife, the late Whitney Houston.

Abdul Williams (“Lottery Ticket”) will write the script. A director has not been selected.
