Ricky Gervais will soon resume his post as the glorified soul of retirement caregiving in “Derek” -- and judging from a new trailer of the forthcoming season, hashtagging just got a lot kinder.

The comedian’s Netflix show, “Derek,” a bittersweet dramedy about a naive, big-hearted man (Gervais) and the group of elders he cares for at a financially struggling retirement home, will roll out its six-episode second season May 30 on Netflix. The half-hour will be available in all Netflix-reachable territories, except for the U.K., where the series will air on Channel 4, which originally ordered “Derek” and owns exclusive TV rights in the country.

Written, directed and executive produced by the rabble rouser, “Derek” will see its title character forge new relationships in the new season, maybe even with his once-absentee father, as the trailer suggests.

Asked about the message of the show, Gervais told The Times in October: “There’s a saying, ‘Kindness affects not only the person that you’re being kind to, but the person who’s being kind. It makes you feel better as well.’ ”
