'Sharknado 2': And the Twitterverse goes wild ... again

Syfy's "Sharknado 2: The Second One," the sequel to last year's disaster movie about flying sharks, was Twitter's No. 1 worldwide trending hashtag before it even started Wednesday night.

Since then, the whirlwind has continued. According to Topsy, the hashtag #Sharknado2 has been mentioned more than 224,000 times in the past day.

Join us on Thursday at noon Pacific time for a video chat about "Sharknado 2" with The Times' Robert Lloyd and Stacey Leasca.

"America tweeted 'Sharknado' into a bona fide phenomenon -- the cinematic version of a crowd-funded $50,000 potato salad," is how Lloyd summarized the first show's impact in his review of the sequel.

In the meantime, here is what fans thought of the cult classic, the second time around.
