‘Veep’ holds steady in Season 2 premiere
Figures pulled straight out of the Leviathan: The Season 2 premiere of HBO’s “Veep” drew 1.2-million viewers.
The half-hour political comedy, a palate cleanser of sorts to the dragons and vicious battles in “Game of Thrones,” returned Sunday in the 10 p.m. slot. The series, about the life of a powerless and neurotic U.S. vice president played by Julia Louis-Dreyfus, was up 11% from last season’s finale but down 14% from its series premiere last year, which brought in 1.4-million viewers.
When combined with its replay, viewership rose to 1.5-million viewers, according to Nielsen data provided to the network.
Its lead-in, “Game of Thrones,” saw big returns in its 9 p.m. airing, hitting a series-high of 4.7-million viewers. Across its two airings, the fantasy drama brought in 5.8-million viewers.
