Dear SOS: I just love the Farmeeoh cookies at the Farm of Beverly Hills, especially the chocolate cookie part. Do you think you could get the recipe?

Dear Genevieve: The Farm of Beverly Hills' supersized chocolate sandwich cookies are a spectacularly large and magnificently rich wonder to behold — just one of their dense chocolate cookies with its sugary-sweet and buttery filling could feed a small family for dessert. They were happy to share their recipe for us, which we've downsized into smaller versions of the original. Now you can have your cookies and eat them too.

Farmeeoh cookies

Total time: 1 hour, 20 minutes, plus chilling time for the dough

Servings: Makes about 2 ½ dozen Farmeeoh sandwich cookies

Cookies

1 cup plus 2 tablespoons (2 ¼ sticks) butter

2 1/4 cups (1 pound) sugar

2 eggs

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

2 3/4 cups plus 1 tablespoon (12 ounces) flour

1/2 cup plus 2 tablespoons (2.4 ounces) cocoa powder

1 teaspoon baking soda

1 teaspoon salt

I see that the recipe posted here has corrected the newspaper entry to 1/2 cup plus 2 tablespoons cocoa powder, but the 2 3/4 cups plus 1 tablespoon entry above it does not equate to 12 ounces. As I am making half the recipe I hope the cup quantities are correct.

Hello Clange51? This is called the LOS ANGELES TIMES. Most of us here don't have reason to go to Pennsylvania for the greatness of an Amish whoopie pie. Why don't you make a pie that can make whoopie enough waves to make it out West and end up in the food section of a major publication? Or, why don't you come out here and try a Farmeeoh cookie before passing your irrelevant, useless judgement? Thanks, signed a Native Angeleno.
