Bid on Raymond Loewy plates at Rago Arts and Auction Center
Other items to be put up for bid in the 800-lot auction include Arts and Crafts lighting and 20th century furniture.
Raymond Loewy, the oft-proclaimed father of American industrial design responsible for the Lucky Strike logo, also hit bull's-eye with this post-World War II pattern, Mosaic, for the German porcelain firm Rosenthal. On Saturday, the New Jersey-based Rago Arts and Auction Center offers a 127-piece service of the strikingly contemporary dinnerware as Lot 119 at its summer Discovery Sale, an everything-must-go auction with no set minimum bids. The Loewy plates are among 800 lots that include Arts and Crafts lighting, Roseville and Weller pottery, and 20th century furniture by Milo Baughman, Paul McCobb and Finn Juhl.
