You've seen the best. Now see the rest. For every well-crafted, functional and beautiful piece of furniture shown at the 2009 Salone Internazionale del Mobile (also called the Milan furniture fair) in Italy, at least one design proved to be something you wouldn't want to bring home. Here's a rundown from Times staff writer David A. Keeps. WEIRD: Quilting was a popular way to update upholstered furniture at the Milan fair, which closed April 27. But in the hands of Arik Ben Shimon, it proved to be too much of a good thing. These metallic, puffy parka-style creations are actually winged high chairs for toddlers. Good luck getting the strained carrots out of the creases. |
