Los Angeles-based trainer Lacey Stone is known for her infectious enthusiasm and devoted workout ethic. She also was among the many fans of Caitlyn Jenner’s speech at the Espy Awards, presented Wednesday night in Los Angeles.

On Thursday, she posted this on Facebook in support of Jenner, who spoke as the recipient of the Arthur Ashe Courage Award: “I know everyone is talking about her, some positive some negative. My Story: I was a gay athlete who was in the closet because my first love was my college teammate. At that time NO ONE spoke up for gay athletes and my team was very Christian and homophobic. I felt completely isolated and alone... Sometimes suicidal.”

Many people have spoken out to say that Jenner and other well-known figures help them when they speak out.

“I can’t say enough about what #CaitlynJenner did for sport last night,” Stone wrote. “Those Top Level Athletes needed to hear that speech from an Olympic Legend. I believe SHE was put on this planet to make the world a better place.”

Stone called the speech an “epic American moment.”

Jenner, an Olympic gold medal winner in the decathalon as Bruce Jenner, later married into the Khardashian family. And then recently Jenner made public the transition to be a woman, Caitlyn. In her EPSYs speech, she spoke out for “a very simple idea -- accepting people for who they are.”
