See which authors were named finalists for the National Book Awards

The literary race is on. The longlists for the National Book Awards have been whittled down to five titles in each of four categories. In those categories — fiction, nonfiction, poetry and young people’s literature — you’ll find a debut and a lifetime poetry collection, an Oprah pick and an academic history, a history for kids told in graphic novel form and much more. The prizes are to be awarded at a gala celebration in New York on Nov. 16. The complete list is below.
