Bristol Palin strikes back: ‘This pregnancy was planned’

Share

Take that giddiness down a notch: Bristol Palin says that this time, she got pregnant on purpose.

“This pregnancy was actually planned,” she wrote on her blog Sunday. “Everyone knows I wanted more kids, to have a bigger family. Believing I was heading that way, I got ahead of myself. Things didn’t go as planned, but life keeps going. Life moves on.”

Last month, Palin’s wedding to Dakota Meyer was called off at the last minute, though the party in Kentucky went on.

So, made a mistake? Yup. Made the mistake her “giddy” critics assume? Nope.

“This baby is not a disappointment, and I cannot wait to be a mom times two,” Sarah Palin’s 24-year-old daughter said, countering the tone of the baby-on-board announcement she made Thursday.

Bristol Palin also wanted to clear up a much-repeated detail: the much-repeated thing about her being a hypocrite who makes a quarter-million bucks a year as an abstinence spokeswoman despite not abstaining from sex herself.

“I can’t tolerate all the talk on this subject. I have never been paid as an ‘abstinence spokesperson.’ I was employed by the great people at the Candies Foundation. ... They are a teen pregnancy prevention non-profit and I worked for them when I was 18 and 19 — when I could share first hand the challenges of being a teen mother.”

Indeed, Palin said in 2009 that despite it being the surest way to prevent pregnancy, abstinence was “not realistic at all” for most people.

As for her job: She’s been employed at the same doctor’s office for more than six years, she said, not mentioning her turns on “Dancing With the Stars” and “Celebrity Wife Swap.” She also posts pro-life messages on her blog.

Palin is already mom to son Tripp, 6½, with whom she was visibly pregnant when her mom accepted the VP nomination to the Republican presidential ticket in 2008. She and her first baby daddy, Levi Johnston, were engaged twice but never married. He’s since gone on to have two kids with wife, Sunny Oglesby, one before saying “I do” and one after.

On Monday, Johnston -- who’s reportedly been fighting Palin over custody of Tripp -- told TMZ that his ex is a “great mom” and said he and his wife would do whatever they could to help her with the new baby.
