Caroline Gray captured this photo in Santa Monica while on a walk along the beach with two friends.
Gray, who says she always has her camera on hand, saw the glowing sunset as an opportunity not to be missed, so she told her friends to keep walking as she shot a few images.
“It seemed very spiritual, as though the beachgoers had just bathed in enlightenment,” she said.
Gray made this photo using a Nikon 7000 with a 70-200mm f2.8 lens.
