Los Angeles Times Hollywood Star Walk App Takes the Boulevard Mobile

Share
LOS ANGELES — Stars glitter in the sky, on the screen and even on the streets in L.A., and with more than 2,000 celebrated names embedded in the Walk of Fame®, the Los Angeles Times has created an app that literally places an encyclopedia of Hollywood in the hands of visitors and fans. Available today in the iTunes Store, The Times Star Walk app delivers the precise locations of every star honoring film and television actors, directors, singers, songwriters, and beloved personalities from radio and stage, along with a showcase of photos and comprehensive bios culled from more than a century of Times coverage.

"Where are Marilyn and Elvis? Who was Lotte Lehmann?" asked The Times' Managing Editor, Online Sean Gallagher. "Imagine having a guide with first-hand knowledge of Hollywood's most famous, infamous, celebrated and obscure characters, and that's what Star Walk delivers."

A virtual tour of the terrazzo plaques dotting Hollywood Boulevard and Vine Street, Star Walk also maps nearby points of interest and places meaningful in the celebrities' lives, as well as charts connections between the stars. Each can be found via GPS, name search or browsing categories. Hollywood visitors can find the luminaries closest to their current location and easily create a custom tour to help navigate the extensive Walk of Fame®.

Those without iPhones can also immerse themselves in the enshrined at latimes.com/starwalk. Both the site and the app will be updated continually as new stars are awarded and additional information becomes available.

The Los Angeles Times Star Walk app is now available in the iTunes store for $2.99 as is the recently released Times News Reader for $1.99.

Note: The Hollywood Walk of Fame® is a trademark of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce.
