Colorado man vanishes during Denver Broncos game; police investigate

The case of a missing Colorado man is getting national attention because of where he vanished – in the middle of a Denver Broncos’ game.

Paul Kitterman went missing at halftime Thursday night at Sports Authority Field at Mile High, police said. It was his first time at a Broncos game.

His stepson, Jarod Tonneson, went with him. He told local reporters his stepfather was thrilled to see the Broncos take on the San Diego Chargers.

“He was just super excited,” Tonneson said. “He was amazed.”

They got tickets at the last minute, Tonneson told the Associated Press, and as they rushed to get to the game, Kitterman forgot his cellphone and credit cards.

Tonneson said he went to the restroom at halftime, and when he returned, Kitterman was gone.

He searched until 1:30 a.m. Friday, he said, calling all the local hospitals. None reported any patients matching Kitterman’s description.

Kitterman, 53, is from Kremmling, a town of 1,400 about two hours northwest of Denver. He might have been a little uncomfortable with such an enormous crowd, Tonneson said, but he would not have wandered off.

“Paul is a simple guy, he doesn’t like technology, he doesn’t get into drama,” Tonneson told the Associated Press on Monday. “He’s just an easygoing guy.”

Denver police are reviewing surveillance tape from the stadium as they investigate the disappearance, police spokesman Sonny Jackson told the Los Angeles Times.

“There is no sign of foul play,” Jackson said. “There is no sign of anything at the moment.”
