It’s only spring. The cry of the veteran, the whisper of the prospect.

The Dodgers sent out one of each to the mound Wednesday and neither was left exactly giddy about the results.

Veteran Zack Greinke could write off his struggles to his making his first start of the spring after having a lubricating injection in his elbow. Phenom Julio Urias could write his off to being 19 years old, though his brief appearance could not have done anything for the confidence.

The Cubs were able to use the shaky outings to squeak past the Dodgers, 4-3, in Mesa, Ariz.

Greinke started and went two innings, allowing a pair of runs on two hits, two walks and a hit batter.

Urias followed and could get only one out. It took him 26 pitches to face four batters. They accounted for three hits and a run-scoring sacrifice fly. Maybe now everyone can exhale and remember just how young he really is.

After Jon Lester held the Dodgers scoreless for three innings, they scored all their runs in the fourth inning off Brian Schlitter. Yasiel Puig, starting again in center, was safe on an infield hit and took second on a wild pitch. Two more infield singles by Howie Kendrick and Scott Van Slyke filled the bases.

Justin Turner drove in two runs with a ground-rule double to left-center. Joc Pederson scored Van Slyke on a groundout to tie it.

David Huff held the Cubs to one hit in his 1 2/3 innings, and Zach Lee followed with two scoreless innings and Chris Reed one.

The Cubs won it in the ninth against Chris Anderson on an Alden Chambers sacrifice fly, the Dodgers managing to avoid their fourth tie in five games.
