Watch the latest trailer for ‘Hard Knocks: Training Camp with the Los Angeles Rams’

The Rams are in a new city with this year’s No. 1 overall draft pick at quarterback and an emerging superstar at running back. Plenty to look forward to at training camp, which will be chronicled in this year’s edition of HBO’s popular series “Hard Knocks.”

But the narrator in the latest trailer for the series doesn’t mention Los Angeles. Or rookie quarterback Jared Goff. Or young running back Todd Gurley.

Instead the guy focuses solely on himself. But that’s OK because, as he reveals at the end, “I am football.”

“At my core, I’m part vulcanized rubber, part cowhide and yet I’m so much more to this team, to this game,” he states during the minute-and-a-half ad. “I can make time stop for one tiny, fleeting moment of perfection.”

There are plenty more statements like that, but you get the idea. We wouldn’t want to give him a bigger head than it apparently already has.

If nothing else the commercial shows it’s pretty hard to advertise something that hasn’t happened yet. But that’s all right, because it really doesn’t take much to get us excited about anything football-related during the long, hot months of summer.

“Hard Knocks” premieres on Aug. 9 (less than a month away!).
