LeSean McCoy will not face charges in connection with a bar fight that injured two off-duty police officers at a Philadelphia night club in February.

McCoy’s lawyer has said the Buffalo Bills running back had been trying to break up a scuffle between his friends and the officers over which party had ordered a $350 bottle of champagne.

“While it is clear that a physical altercation took place, there is insufficient credible evidence to determine which of the participants was the initial aggressor or whether some participants were acting in self-defense or in the reasonable defense of another,” Philadelphia Dist. Atty. Seth Williams said Monday in a statement.

One of the officers is said to have suffered a broken nose and broken ribs during the Feb. 7 incident.

The NFL said Monday that “the matter remains under review of the Personal Conduct Policy,” meaning McCoy could still be disciplined by the league.
