Facing a must-win situation in the Mission League, Sherman Oaks Notre Dame (14-6, 5-4) turned to junior standout Hunter Greene on Friday, and he delivered with his bat and arm against rival Crespi.

Greene blasted a two-run home run to left field in the first inning and added a solo home run to right-center in the third. On the mound, he threw a one-hitter, striking out 15, in Notre Dame’s 8-0 victory over the host Celts.

The 16-year-old Greene was throwing fastballs in the mid-90s. Notre Dame has struggled in recent weeks to win with him on the mound, but Friday’s performance was a positive sign for the final weeks of the regular season.
