California: Free extras with spa treatments at Borrego Springs resort

Who couldn’t use a little pampering this holiday season? The on-site spa at the desert resort La Casa del Zorro in Borrego Springs, Calif., will give you some nice extras with your massage or facial in November and December. You can take a day trip to the spa or stay over at this desert hotel.

The deal: La Casa is an old-style California resort about 150 miles southeast of Los Angeles. It’s the perfect stepping-off point to explore adjacent Anza-Borrego Desert State Park.

Free upgrades for services at the resort’s Balance Spa and Salon include a pumpkin peel with a facial (starting at $110), a peppermint scalp massage with a massage (starting at $110), and a chocolate foot scrub with a pedicure (starting at $45).

When: The offer is good Nov. 1 through Dec. 31; blackout dates apply.

Details: Reservations for spa services are required. To get this deal, you have to request the free treatment when you book a facial, massage or pedicure. Also, this deal can’t be combined with any other offer or promotion.

If you decide to stay over, best available room rates start at $159 midweek and $209 on weekends, according to an online check I did using dates in November. The price doesn’t include tax and a $25 daily resort fee.
