Defense Department Casualty Update

The Department of the Navy confirmed today that Aerographer’s Mate First Class Edward Thomas Earhart, 26, Salt Lick, Ky., was killed during Tuesday’s attack on the Pentagon. He was previously listed as unaccounted.

The Department of Defense announced today that Herbert W. Homer, a civilian employee of the Defense ContractManagement Agency, was among the passengers aboard United Airlines Flight # 175, which crashed into the World Trade Center. He was previously listed in error as unaccounted at the Pentagon.

All names of those who remain unaccounted for have been released.

Search and rescue operations continue. To date, 85 remains have been recovered from the Pentagon, 77 of which have been transported to Dover Air Force Base, Del. for identification.
