If you’re one of the almost 1 million Americans who ordered an Apple Watch last Friday, get ready to upload travel-worthy apps.

Delivery of the device is expected to take four to six weeks, plenty of time to decide what you want to access on your wrist. Most of these apps you may already use on your mobile device, but now they are (or soon will be) available for Apple’s new watch.

TripAdvisor on Monday announced its new Apple Watch app that allows users to access reviews, ratings as well as photos of hotels, restaurants and attractions. You can swipe the smartwatch in “Glances” mode and receive recommendations for the nearest places to eat or stay.

The app also allows travelers to adjust their search range to 1, 5 or 10 miles and see options within those parameters. The app is to be available April 24.

Starwood Hotels & Resorts have launched an Apple Watch app that will allow users to check in, review their reservations, view their Starpoints rewards balance and even open their rooms. W hotels, Sheraton, Westin, Le Meridien and others are in the Starwood family.

American Airlines’ app for Apple Watch displays a flight map that shows how much time you have left to travel to wherever you’re going. Of course, you’ll be able to check in with the smartwatch -- and receive a nudge when it’s time to go to the airport. Many airlines likely will follow suit with apps for the watch.

Hotels.com has developed an Apple Watch app that will let users find nearby hotel deals, check on reservations and locate the hotel. Users also will be able to find last-minute deals on accommodations based on their current location.

Citymapper and Go Safe Map are apps that will help you get around in cities near and far. They will show you the quickest way to get somewhere, on foot or by bus or train. Go Safe Map has lots of interfaces including one that tells you whether there’s trouble on the road ahead.
