A shallow magnitude 3.0 earthquake was reported Friday afternoon 12 miles from Bridgeport, Calif., according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor occurred at 2:02 p.m. Pacific time at a depth of 6.2 miles.
According to the USGS, the epicenter was 40 miles from Gardnerville Ranchos, Nev., 51 miles from South Lake Tahoe, Calif., 56 miles from Carson City, Nev., and 78 miles from Truckee, Calif.
In the last 10 days, there have been no earthquakes of magnitude 3.0 or greater centered nearby.
