Los Angeles police Monday evening were investigating an apparent attempted burglary at the home of V. Stiviano, whose recordings of Donald Sterling unleashed a controversy that enveloped the Clippers owner.
"They found broken glass at the entryway," Officer Sara Faden told The Times.
Police said it was not immediately clear if Stiviano was home at the time.
The case is being investigated by detectives from the LAPD's Wilshire Division.
The firestorm surrounding Sterling was sparked in late April when TMZ posted an audio recording in which the Clippers owner told Stiviano he didn’t want to see her around African Americans.
On Monday, the NBA filed formal allegations and scheduled a hearing on June 3 as part of the effort to strip Sterling of his ownership of the Clippers.
In announcing the action, league officials cited conduct that they contend has “damaged and continues to damage the NBA and its teams.”
