Broken hydrant gushes water, forcing closure of Coldwater Canyon Boulevard
A flood of water and mud forced the closure of busy Coldwater Canyon Boulevard in Studio City early Friday, after a motorist crashed into a hydrant, according to authorities.
The vehicle struck the hydrant around 2 a.m., sending water and mud flowing down the road, said LAPD Officer Aareon Jefferson.
The driver was taken to the hospital and is in stable condition, he said.

The road was closed from Avenida Del Sol to Ventura Boulevard and reopened around 12:30 p.m., said Russell Hasan, spokesman for the Los Angeles Department of Transportation.
Harvard-Westlake School, located on the closed stretch of road, remained open, but visitors were re-routed to enter the campus from the north, according to the school newspaper.
