An overturned FedEx truck is snarling traffic on the 5 Freeway in Sun Valley after it swerved to avoid a pair of crashes and struck a concrete barrier, authorities said.

All lanes but one are closed on the southbound 5 at Sheldon Street as crews work to move the overturned truck, said Officer Jennifer Cassidy of the California Highway Patrol.

The lanes were expected to be closed for several hours.

The traffic tie-up started about 4:54 a.m. when the driver of the FedEx truck swerved to avoid two collisions that occurred earlier in the same area, Cassidy said.

The FedEx truck veered away from the disabled cars then struck a concrete barrier and toppled.

No injuries were reported in the crash, she said, but the truck driver was taken to an area hospital.
